Mind wipes - As said, they are very useful and an excellent way to change, or assign points to your avatar to meet current desires in ability. It is also a great way to change what your avatar can craft since there always comes a point when a Engram either loses importance, or becomes very important to have. The catch is you cannot use a Mind Wipe as often as you might desire. I think the limit is one per 24 hours, so you will have to wait until the next time you play to use another one and change your avatar's abilities, and Engrams. A good example is how much weight the avatar can carry, and higher crafting skill when constructing a huge base of operations. You might be changing your base from a stone fortress to all metal and want to be able to do more per gaming session. Another would be wanting to be able to do more while hunting, or fighting an END game boss.

As stated, the purpose of collecting loot drops and other options that become available in caves and other places is the blueprints. The blueprints are going to offer better crafting options at a higher ability, or rating. At first, the next level of blueprint above what you can craft by investing in basic crafting skills through the Engrams system will be with a green background labeled Ramshackle. The better blueprints will have a change in the background color, a different label and will require more materials to craft the object. If you noticed, Teachers avatar is well above level 50, and he has made a lot of investments into various avatar abilities, so he can do a lot more than your avatar can as a new player. Each time your avatar gains a level, it takes more experience points to gain the next level and this process is a very long and ever slower game element. Hence the reason I said only the stubborn, determined, and players will a very high tolerance level for Early Access games will continue to play.

Loot drops/crates have a level requirement, so don't think you can collect from one before the time limit expires. At first the only loot drops you can collect from will be the white ones, but I think your avatar needs to be at least level 5. Green is available around level 15, or so. It has been a while since I was new to the Official server I am playing on, so I am not sure about the minimum levels each loot drop type requires. Get to one before the timer expires and it will tell you what level you need to be if your avatar is under the required level. As stated, loot drops are important to always collect from and the ones with the red ring, even better. I am assuming your avatar has enough weight ability to not become overloaded if everything to taken. I am also assuming your base of operations has plenty of additional storage for stuff you no longer want and you have unlocked some of the extra storage for others to check out and take if they want. A small shed near your main building can serve as a FREE to TAKE place for the extra unlocked storage and supplies.

As noted, having a flying pet you can ride can be a huge advantage in gameplay, but .... and here is the issue for new players - there is a ton of things to learn how to do. One thing that is often true on most servers, including the Official servers is some players want to help new players and will offer better pets for free, or at a low cost. Tell the other players who are online when you are that you are new and need help. If you gain a response try to offer to buy pets, starting with flyers and remind the other players you have just arrived and started on this server. There are many types of flyers in the game, but they are mostly useless without a saddle. They also need to be fed with the required food type, or they starve to death. I am assuming you have started your base build and have something to offer in trade for some extra pets the other players have and don't need.

The water demonstration is very misleading for a new player and if you try to harvest as much as shown for a period anywhere near the same, your avatar will drown and your dinosaur pet will die. The issues are: not enough weight limit, not enough stamina, not enough oxygen, and lack of higher rated metal tools, like the pickaxe, or high level dinosaur. Having few, if any investments in stamina means your avatar, or pet will quickly become exhausted and cannot even swim to shore, or to the water's surface. Same is true of weight overloading. Your avatar will be like a huge anchor, but you might be able to drop some weight fast enough, if you know how. To say this game has a huge learning curve would be a massive understatement. Only the determined and tolerant of game problems and limitations that need fixing will stubbornly stay with the game. For the game problems that need fixing, some have workarounds to learn and often there is more than one workaround that will work for the same problem.

Explorer notes in boxes, or jars on Official servers don't always work as explained. Even worse, some ruins don't have either a box, or jar to open while seeking a bump up in levels, or a temporary boost in experience points gained by doing a task, or two. Some boxes and jars you open by standing on them do nothing, but that is assuming the ruin you find has a box, or jar to open. No doubt this is causing a lot of complaints by experienced players that know how to make complaints. It may be after earning enough levels the bump up in levels is disabled, as well as getting a temporary boost in experience points gained by doing tasks. It is also possible the notes are turned off due to a bug, or two they are trying to fix. In short, the game is in Early Access, so expect it to have issues and need a lot more programming just like the original game still does. Keep in mind the original game never did come off of Early Access, so the same is likely true of this version.

New players playing on an Official server are going to find the raising of the baby, or slightly older dinosaurs they claim a very time consuming and food feeding time sink. Not only does the feeding task take literally days of gameplay to complete, but you also need a ton of the required food on hand. Many new players will find these chores too much of a drain on their patience and never finish the process successfully, or the young dinosaur will suddenly starve to death while you are out and about collecting food, or doing some other tasks. Starting this process by first hatching eggs is even more of a test of your tolerance for the tasks and patience. I am assuming you have learned how to hatch eggs in the newer game version and a number of other processes. In short, new players are less likely to want to do more than tame the adult dinosaurs until they are convinced doing more is needed to achieve other game goal. Like fighting the Alpha dinosaurs, hunting meat, or taming higher level dinosaurs, and end game boss dinosaurs.

The hidden hotbar is default set for most new players, meaning you have to hold down the Q key for about a second, or two for it to show. You cancel the hidden hotbar by pressing the Q key again for about half a second. Notice there is a 9 on the left size and a 0 on the other end of the hidden hotbar. Press either to rotate from one hidden hotbar to the other. So far I have not been able to select what is shown in the hidden hotbars and there are only two.

You do need to mention Otters are rare creatures in ARK. Always have been and tend to be found in the dangerous zones. As if that wasn't bad enough, they are not easy to tame. Something first time players won't know how to do and are likely to find taming one near impossible if they get lucky enough to see one in the first week of gameplay at three hours per day. The key point is new players will normally seek the safest zones, which happen to be very rare Otter spawn zones. Obviously something you have forgotten after playing so much ARK Survival Evolved and the newer version: Ascended.

It is true weight ability is important during the first hour and ten upgrades in level, but ... then your avatar freezes to death at least once and sometimes a torch is just not enough. The other option, which is likely more useful than collecting resources right away is to explore the map. Each time your avatar dies, pick a different respawn point until you have managed to explore a large share of what is possible on that map. The advantage is you will have a better idea just how safe, or dangerous those areas are right away. Don't worry about eating, drinking, or collecting resources and crafting since the next death allows another respawn to reveal more of the map. You can also craft a few things for another level or two once you are satisfied you have revealed enough of the map and are ready to settle down. By then you will also have a good idea what areas are still available for constructing a base, if any beach zones are open. Clearly this is a strategy most new players will not know to employee right off in the first hours of gameplay.

I'd really like to see somebody create a base similar to this but from a zero build. Everyone starts off with everything unlimited and tons of crap and then says all you need is this. Lol.

My favorite part of these tutorials is like all you need is which is like what I need. Yeah none of these are new friendly. Lol.

Downloaded this mod today thanks to your video, but cant seem to find any wyverns 😂. I have it activated as i have all the engrams from the mod, but scowered the whole beach and some lf the forests by the coasts and couldn't fond any wyverns even tho it said that some of them spawn at beaches. Am i looking in the wrong places or are there certain conditions? 😂

Why tf did they have to remove beginner servers

OMG there is a spanish youtuber that makes his own servers and has every season its own story RP and almost any follower can join at least when i used to watch him play. he had also rules for the pvp like not killing creatures if they are in passive and they dont block base parts with weaknesses in the base it was so cool seeing them taking care of people that break rules by raiding them normaly without useing admin power till they cant play anymore cause usually thats what such people did
